ABOUT US

The Bristol Police Department provides full service to our city with 122 sworn officers and 25 civilian personnel.  Our officers are committed to serving this diverse community of over 60,000 people within its 27 square miles while holding themselves to the highest standards of performance and ethics.  BPD officers serve all people within our jurisdiction with respect, fairness and compassion.  We are dedicated to our personnel by providing continuous training and educational development.  The department received State accreditation in 2014.  On average, the department responds to over 60,000 calls for service each year.

OUR MISSION

To protect and serve the community with integrity and professionalism.

STAFFING

Upon graduating from the police academy, all officers begin their careers in the Patrol Division.  Officers work an eight hour day, with four days on and two days off.  They are assigned to one of nine squads that cover three shifts.  Through a bidding process every three months, the officers are able to request the shift they wish to work.  The rotating schedule may provide newer officers with valuable weekend and holiday time with their families.

OUR COMMUNITY

Bristol is a family friendly community with a well-regarded school system and an active community library system with programs for all ages.  We have 700 acres of beautiful parks and are home to Bristol Hospital, ESPN and Lake Compounce.
