TOWN OF COVENTRY
ANNOUNCES THE APPLICATION PROCESS
CERTIFIED POLICE OFFICER
The Coventry Police Department is accepting applications from individuals who have already received certification as a police officer from the Rhode Island Police Officers Commission of Standards and Training (POST). For those individuals who are not current police officers, applications will be accepted from qualified individuals who have retired from law enforcement service in Rhode Island within the last three (3) years and who are currently certified by the RI POST, and who have retired in good standing. Out of state police officers will be considered through the comparative process.

ABOUT US:
The Coventry Police Department consists of 57 sworn officers and is supported by a professional staff of 17 employees. We provide law enforcement services to a population of approximately 36,000 residents who reside within 64 square miles. Our community is unique in that the eastern part of town is densely populated and our western section is rural.
QUALIFICATIONS
Individuals who wish to be considered for employment by the Town of Coventry as a Police Officer must, at the time of application, be a US Citizen; have an active driver's license; and pass all testing requirements, including oral interviews, background investigation, psychological test, and a medical examination.

Selection Process:
The applicants meeting the minimum basic requirements must successfully complete the following phases of the selection process. Testing dates, times, & location that are not listed will be emailed to qualified applicants:
1. Oral Boards Interview
2. Intensive Background Investigation
3. Interview with Chief
4. Psychological Examination
5. Medical Examination
