ROSS TOWNSHIP

 This notice is provided pursuant to Section 635 (b) of the First-Class Township Code. Forms required to be completed to apply for the position of Patrol Officer are available online at www.policeapp.com. Call 412-931-7055 if you have any questions.

COMPLETED APPLICATIONS MUST BE SUBMITTED ONLINE AT  WWW.POLICEAPP.COM NO LATER THAN FRIDAY, JANUARY 6, 2023.  ANY APPLICATION CONTAINING MATERIAL ERRORS OR OMISSIONS SHALL BE REJECTED BY THE COMMISSION.  IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE APPLICANT TO CONFIRM THAT THE APPLICATION IS COMPLETE AND TIMELY SUBMITTED.  THE COMMISSION SHALL REJECT ANY INCOMPLETE OR UNTIMLEY APPLICATION.

WRITTEN EXAM

A WRITTEN EXAMINATION WILL BE HELD ON SATURDAY, JANUARY 28, 2023 AT 9:00 A.M. AT THE NORTH HILLS SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL  53 ROCHESTER ROAD, PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA 15229

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS TO APPLY

• Must be a United States Citizen
• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Must possess a valid Driver’s License
• Must possess a Diploma from an Accredited High School or a Graduate Equivalency
• Diploma (GED)
• Must possess at least ONE of the following requirements:
  • Possess an Associate’s Degree or higher with a grade average of “C” or better from an institution of higher learning recognized by the United States Secretary of Education, the Council of Higher Education Accreditation, or the Association of Specialized and Professional Accreditors, OR
  • Have active duty experience (as hereinafter defined) as a police officer at the time of application.
• Must have successfully completed the Pennsylvania Municipal Officers Education and Training Commission Basic Training requirements, and received what is commonly known as Act 120 Certification at the time of application or are enrolled at the time of application in an authorized Pennsylvania Municipal Officers Education and Training Commission Basic Training course with the conditions that the applicant shall have received Act 120 Certification and provided written proof to the Commission Prior to when the Commission certifies the Eligible List OR must currently be an out-of-state certified police officer with a "Waiver of Training" from The Pennsylvania Municipal Police Officer's Education and Training Commission(MPOETC)

Other mandatory components of the test are an oral examination, a background check, an agility fitness test, a polygraph examination, a medical examination, and a psychological examination.  A complete copy of the Ross Township's Hiring Policy as set forth in its Civil Service Rules is available for inspection during regular business hours at the Ross Township Municipal Building.
