Duties are varied and include receiving and recording radio and telephone, messages, instructions involving emergencies, as well as complaints, violations, accidents, and other requests for information and assistance; transmitting messages and instructions to officers on patrol, dispatchers, Police, Fire, and other emergency services to answer complaints and calls for emergency service or pertinent calls; some routine duties such as typing, filing, and recording and logging of all activities.

Qualifications and Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED, plus one to three years office/and or dispatching experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Preference will be given to trained, certified dispatchers or those with prior Police Dispatch experience.
  • Ability to read and decipher complex written, oral, and graphic data in a short period of time to lead to resolution of situations. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a fast-paced setting and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. 
  • A general knowledge of community landmarks, streets, and businesses. 
  • Ability to work required shift, holiday, and weekend assignments.

What we offer you: 

The annual pay range for this position is competitive: $43,448 - $54,143 ($20.89- $26.03 per hour).  The starting hourly rate for this position is $20.89, but a highly skilled candidate may qualify for a higher starting pay rate!  The City of Keene also offers a strong benefits package, including health, dental, life and disability insurances; plus retirement, paid time off, tuition reimbursement and more!
