Job Announcement:

In order to qualify for entrance into the Camden County College Police Academy Alternate Route Program, candidates must:

·          Must be at least 18 years of age and not over 35 at the completion of the program (for municipal police officers).

·          Must have completed 60 college credits or 2 years of active military service.  A copy of your DD214 Form must be supplied as proof of military service.

·          Must be a citizen of the United States.

·          Must be a resident of the State of New Jersey

·          Must be of good moral character and not convicted of any criminal offense.

·          Must be able to read, write and speak the English language well and intelligently

·          Must be in good health, sound physical condition and able to participate in a rigorous physical training program.

·          Must have a valid, unrestricted New Jersey Driver License

·          Must have medical insurance.  A copy of your insurance card is required as proof of coverage.

The criteria used to select candidates for entrance into the Camden County College Police Academy Alternate Route Program are:

·          Pass the Written Test (minimum score of 70%). To continue in the Process, you must score 80%. Top 30 scores go to PAT

·          Pass the Physical Ability Test.   Must pass all (5) PAT Events.

·          Pass the Oral Interview

·          Pass a Medical Examination

·          Pass a Psychological Evaluation

·          Pass Drug Screening

·          Pass a Background Investigation

Alternate Route Program Selection Process Timeline (2026) Class.  (All listed dates are tentative and subject to change)

07/17/25 Information Session: 5:00pm RETC Police Academy. Introduce the Selection Process via PowerPoint Presentation, conduct Q&A.

07/07/25 Registration:  Begin accepting registrations through www.policeapp.com

07/07/25- Study guides can be purchased Monday through Friday 0800 hours to 1430 hours.  Registration Period ends on Friday April 18, 2025.

09/13/25- Written Test: Check-in 0800 hours. Fingerprint candidates at check-in. Testing begins at 08:30 hours in the RETC Auditorium.

09/19/25- Written Test Results:   E-mail test results to candidates, Include Advancement / Elimination Letters in e-mail, Set Initial Ranking

TBA -        Formal Application Deadline:  Formal Applications to be turned in at PAT Check-in. 

10/28/25 Physical Ability Test:  Check-in 0830 hours at Police Academy the RETC Campus, collect candidate’s paperwork at check-in.

11/24/25 Physical Ability Re-Assessment Test: Check-in 0830 hours at Police Academy the RETC Campus, collect candidate’s paperwork at check-in.

10/03/25- Initial Background Checks:  Due for return from CCMPD, Review for Candidate Profiles

10/6-7/25- Oral Interviews:  Times TBA.  All Interviews will take place at the Regional Emergency Training Center Police Academy.

TBA -        Final Ranking:   Calculate Composite Scores.  Set Final Ranking.  E-mail Notice of Ranking to candidates. 

11/4/25 - Psychological Examination:  Dr. Jennifer Kelly Schedule top candidates and place the rest on “waiting list” $495.00 money order.

11/21/25- Background Investigations:  Meet with candidates, Review Formal Apps.; send to Gloucester Twp. for fingerprinting.

12/05/25- Conditional Offer:  Meet with candidates, Distribute Offers, Conduct drug testing, Complete Academy Application Packets.

01/00/26- Basic Class #93 Orientation:  0900 at the Regional Emergency Training Center (RETC) Tuition $1600.00 and Ammunition $425.00 money order. Uniform costs are not included. ** All Academy Costs are subject to Change during the ARP Process**

Selection Process Overview
The Written Test will be administered at the Camden County College Regional Emergency Training Center on Saturday, September 13, 2025.  Candidates must be in line by 08:00 am.  
The Top 30 highest scores on the Written Test will continue in the Selection Process.  After the results are tabulated, you will be advised of your score and your eligible status.  A passing score will qualify you to continue on to the Physical Ability Test.
Formal Applications will be distributed by email after the Written Test and must be returned at the Physical Ability Test site, during check-in.
The Physical Ability Test will be administered at the Camden County College (Police Academy) to be announced.  Candidates must be in line by 8:00 am.
A Medical Certification signed by your Physician is required to participate in the Physical Ability Test.  The test consists of five (5) pass/fail events.  Candidates who pass all five events of the test will be eligible to advance and may be offered the opportunity to participate in the Oral Interview Phase of the Selection Process. 
The Oral Interviews will be conducted at the Camden County College Police Academy on October 6, 2025 and October 7, 2025.
The Preliminary Ranking will be released on or about November 10, 2025.  The Preliminary Ranking is based on the results of each candidate’s performance on the Written Test, Physical Ability Test and Oral Interview.
Candidates on the Preliminary Ranking List will be selected as needed to participate in the Psychological Examination and Background Investigation Phases.
Only those candidates who successfully complete all of these phases will receive a Final Ranking and will be considered for appointment into the Basic Course for Police Officer.
The next Basic Class for Police Officer class#93 will begin on January, 2026.
