AUXILIARY POLICE OFFICER

The Portsmouth, NH Police Department is now seeking applicants for the position of currently certified Auxiliary Police Officer. Applicants must be currently certified due to limited part-time academy availability. The Portsmouth Police Auxiliary Unit is a part-time force designed to augment the full-time force, primarily by working outside details and major events. The Auxiliary force is not used to work regular patrol shifts but occasionally is called upon to work coverage patrols while the full-time force is absent.  The members of the Auxiliary force receive regular training throughout the year alongside the full time police officers. The Police Department will regularly look to fill full-time positions from its Auxiliary members.

Duties include: traffic details, church details, parking meter collection and occasional coverage for Full Time officers. 

Expectations Must work a minimum of 12 hours of outside work details per month; work at least 1 coverage shift per year; complete 1 ride-along with a full time Field Training Officer every six months; and attend monthly Auxiliary meeting.
