PROVINCETOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT 

POLICE OFFICER

The Provincetown, Massachusetts Police Department is accepting applications for the position of Police Officer.

We offer exceptional careers for those seeking a challenging profession where you can make a difference. Starting salary range is $66,739 to start. Top Step is $81,178. Additional compensation is available through shift differential, educational incentive and longevity pay for qualified applicants, as well as through private event paid details and overtime assignments. A generous benefits package including but not limited to paid time off and 70% employer paid health insurance is provided.  Higher education incentives also available, to be paid quarterly in the following allotments:  Associates Degree $2500, Bachelor’s Degree $4500, Master’s Degree $6500.

Minimum qualifications:

  • U.S. Citizen
  • At least 21 years of age
  • High school diploma, or high school equivalency diploma (minimum of 60 college credits are preferred)
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to obtain a Massachusetts LTC
  • Must pass all requirements to become certified by standards established by the Police Officers’ Standards and Training (POST) committee

Applicants must pass an oral interview panel, chief of police interview, extensive background investigation, medical exam, physical ability test (PAT), physical fitness test, psychological exam, M.P.T.C approved police academy and must be able to perform all the essential duties and responsibilities of a police officer.  Successful candidates must be available to work all shifts for a 24/7 operation, including weekends and holidays; possess strong problem-solving abilities with a high level of integrity, and have effect verbal and written communication skills.
