PUBLIC SAFETY COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST

The Goffstown, New Hampshire Police Department is actively seeking Public Safety Communications Specialist candidates interested in a challenging career to fill current or anticipated vacancies. The Goffstown Police Department Communications Division provides 24-hour emergency dispatch communications for Goffstown Police, Fire and EMS, New Boston Police, Fire and EMS, Weare Police, Fire and EMS, and Dunbarton Police Department. The Town of Goffstown is located in southern New Hampshire with easy access to the Boston Metropolitan area, beaches, and the White Mountains. Duties include, but are not limited to: Telecommunications, answer phones, meet and provide service to the public. Receive emergency calls from the public and E-911. Dispatch appropriate fire, ambulance or police using computer-aided dispatch. Monitor fire and burglar alarms and security cameras. Must be able to multi-task, analyze situations quickly and objectively and make decisions under pressure.

Dispatchers must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Minimum of 18 years of age
  • A United States Citizen
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts (nights, weekends and holidays included)

Applicants who meet the basic qualifications are selected on a competitive basis. To be considered candidates must successfully complete a selection process that may include:

  • Written examination
  • Oral Board Interview
  • Thorough background examination

SALARY RANGE

  • $42,432- $61,464 - Dependent on qualifications and experience
