The Long Hill Township Police Department is actively seeking qualified and motivated individuals to join our team of Police Officers.
We are looking to hire multiple officers to become part of our proactive and community-oriented law enforcement agency, with engaged leadership.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Are 18 years of age or older;
- Are a citizen of the United States;
- Are of sound in body and of good health sufficient to satisfy the board of trustees of the police and firemen’s retirement system of New Jersey as to their eligibility for membership in the retirement system;
- Are able to read, write and speak the English language well and intelligently;
- Are of good moral character and has not been convicted of any criminal offense involving moral turpitude;
- Are a graduate of high school or the holder of a general educational development diploma;
- If served in the military, did not receive a dishonorable discharge;
- Meets all eligibility requirements set forth in N.J.S.A. 40A14-122, N.J.S.A. 52:17B.71b and N.J.A.C. 13:1-10.2.

Must possess a current Special Law Enforcement Officer II (SLEO II) or Basic Course for Police Officers (BCPO) PTC Certification

- Applications from candidates that are currently enrolled in and attending NJ Police Academy Basic Course for Police Officers course as an Alternate Route Recruit WILL BE accepted.

About Long Hill:
Long Hill Township consists of four communities: the villages of Gillette, Millington and Stirling, and the hamlet of Meyersville. Long Hill Township is in the most southern part of Morris County, New Jersey. With New Jersey Transit stations in Gillette, Stirling and Millington, and easy access to Highway Routes 78 and 287; Long Hill Township is well suited for commuting into the city. It is bounded by the Passaic River on the south and west, and by the Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge on the north. The Township borders both Union and Somerset Counties. Long Hill Township has a population of approximately 8,600 residents and covers approximately 12.5 square miles.
The Long Hill Township Police Department currently consists of 25 officers and is growing. The department emphasizes, and promotes, individual development through specialized training. Officers can excel and join one of our expanding Patrol, Support Services, and Investigation sections. The Long Hill Township Police Department strives to provide every officer with the best training, equipment, and current technology to accomplish their job responsibilities.
