Department Overview:

The Atlantic Highlands Police Department recognizes that our officers are the face of the department. Our goal is to keep the residents and visitors of Atlantic Highlands safe while providing personalized services to those we serve. We like to call this “small town policing”. The Atlantic Highlands Police Department consists of 15 officers who patrol the borough 24/7, 365 days a year. The small geographic nature of Atlantic Highlands allows our officers to respond to any emergency within minutes if not seconds. Simply put, we have a small group of officers who know our town inside and out. The Atlantic Highlands Police Department serves a 1.2 mile community of 4700 year round residents. The Atlantic Highlands Police Department is seeking only the highest caliber personnel with a demonstrated ability to meet and exceed standards for personal and professional conduct. Candidates need to be community oriented, compassionate, and respectful.

Information about the community/area you serve:

The borough overlooks where the Atlantic Ocean and Raritan Bay meet at Sandy Hook, and its hills mark the highest point on the Eastern seaboard, South of Maine. Tree lined streets with a mix of Victorian and newer homes make Atlantic Highlands a beautiful place to live or work. The Manhattan skyline can be seen from the borough’s ridges and shoreline. Pleasure, fishing, and commuter boats sail from our harbor, which is one of the largest municipal owned harbors on the East Coast. New York City is a 40 minute commute by one of the fast ferries servicing our town. First Avenue, our business district, is the home to many fine restaurants, small businesses, a hotel, and a craft brewery. Our Police Headquarters is located in the heart of the business district and is open 24/7 to serve the public.
