ACADEMY CERTIFIED ONLY

The Town of Wales is a picturesque New England town situated on the Connecticut/Massachusetts border. We are looking for a qualified individual to serve as the first full-time police officer for the community of Wales, MA.

The Wales Police Department is currently comprised of nine (9) certified part-time police officers. The Wales Police Department members work in shared partnership with the Massachusetts State Police Sturbridge, Brimfield and Holland Police Departments to accomplish our community policing services.

 

A qualified candidate is or will be eligible for POST certification.

  • Have a Massachusetts Police Training Committee certified police academy or a waiver of equivalency for out of state candidates.

  • Be a U.S. citizen, have a high school diploma or equivalent, be at least 21 years of age, possess a valid Massachusetts driver’s license and have a valid Massachusetts License to Carry or the ability to obtain one.

  • WPD offers reasonable and flexible shift assignments with this new position.

  • Candidates will be expected to pass a background check, including CORI, psychological & physical exams and have an acceptable driving record.
