Wicomico County Sheriff's Office

The Sheriff's Office is law enforcement work involving criminal, traffic and civil laws. Deputies possess all of the powers normally conferred upon police officers of the state of Maryland, and use these powers to enforce laws affecting the criminal, traffic and civil laws of Wicomico County, the State of Maryland, and the United States. This work involves extensive contact with the public, and considerable time is spent in gathering evidence, presenting evidence in court, and in testifying for the prosecution of apprehended violators. Deputies may be faced with various situations such as working in inclement weather, pursuing fleeing subjects and physical arrest. Deputies must possess the ability to work effectively with the public and other law enforcement personnel in accomplishing their assigned duties.

The lead Wicomico County Law Enforcement Agency is the Sheriff's Office. This Office is always interested in speaking with men and women interested in a law enforcement career. Applications are available at the Sheriff's Office and are held for one year. If you wish to keep your file active past the one year mark, you should call the officer in charge of training/recruiting to request that your application be updated.
