The Marion Police Department is currently made up of:
- •1 Police Lieutenant
- •3 Patrol Sergeants
- •1 Police Detective
- •15 Full-Time Police Officers
- •10 Part-Time Police Officers
•The Animal Control Division also falls under the jurisdiction of the Police Department, with one full-time and two part-time Animal Control Officers.
Marion’s public safety dispatching is handled by the Police Department, including all 9-1-1 calls. We provide twenty-four hour dispatching services for all town agencies, including Fire and Emergency Medical Services.
The Department offers a variety of services to our citizens. Some of these include:
- •A child safety seat technician
- •A firearms safety certification course
- •A reassurance program
- •A crime prevention officer
The Marion Police Department belongs to the Southeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council (SEM-LEC). The council is made up of twenty-eight communities to provide mutual aid resources and collaboration. The council has a SWAT Team, Search and Rescue Team, Marine/Dive Team and Anti-Crime Unit. Five officers from this department are assigned to the various units.
