NOW TESTING FOR

ENTRY LEVEL POLICE OFFICERS

This application process is open to all individuals who are currently not NJ PTC Certified or who are Certified Police Officers in a state other than NJ. 

Applications

The Dumont Police Department are accepting applications through www.policeapp.com. A $100.00 non-refundable fee will be paid through Police App upon completion of the application.  From that point forward you will be receiving all notifications from the Dumont Police Department through Police App. Please make sure you complete the medical certification form with the application in order to participate in the physical assessment.

Physical and Written Examination

The physical assessment will take place on Saturday March 25, 2023 at 10 am at Dumont High School.  101 New Milford Avenue, Dumont, NJ 07628. All applicants who successfully complete the physical assessment will move on to the written test which will be conducted on Thursday March 30, 2023 in the evening. The test being administered is the NCJOSI2 by the NJS Police Chief’s Association.

Minimum Requirements 

• Must be a resident of NJ (At time of appointment) 
• Must be a United States Citizen
• Must be between 21 and 35 years of age.
• Possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university.
• Honorable discharge from US Armed Services accepted in lieu of Education Requirement (Bachelor’s Degree)
• Must have the ability to perform all tasks and duties of a Police Officer. 
• Must possess a valid NJ driver’s license.

1. Physical fitness test (Vertical Jump, sit-ups, 300-meter run, push-ups, 1.5 mile run)
2. Written Exam
3. Multiple interviews
4. Background investigation
5. Drug Screening
6. Psychological Screening
7. Medical Screening
8. Academy Training (Unless already a NJ Police Training Commission Certified Officer).
